Mitch's Birthday and Mother's Day

Mitch's birthday is really close to Mothers Day. It makes it really fun because there are so many festivities in just a short time!
Last Sunday for dinner we celebrated mothers day and then after that we ate birthday cake!

Mitch's momI couldn't ask for a better mother in law. Lisa has been really great and we are so blessed to have her in our lives. She does so much for others and I have never seen her act stressed or angry. I owe it to her for raising Mitch to be such a wonderful person and a great husband. She has been so sweet welcoming me into the family and treating me as her own daughter. We love it that we live so close to them and get to see them frequently. Family time on Sundays is one of our favorite times! We love her very much!

The girls
It was really hard for me to be away from my mom for mothers day, but I we will be seeing her in just a couple weeks! My mom is so great! She tries hard to make us happy even though she is so far away, and she succeeds! Everything I have learned about responsibility, love, life, hard work, appreciation, kindness, and laughter I owe to her. I miss the long talks and her fun personality that can keep me entertained no matter what is going on. She has raised me to be the woman I am today and I couldn't ask for a better mother! We love her very much!

Mitch loved his cake! I had it decorated in a Utah Jazz theme. Yes, we know they lost, but we are true fans and we will always support our team!

Then on wednesday we went to the Paris Bistro on 1500 S. and 1500 E. It was a fun little place to eat. For his birthday I got him a Jazz Polo, tickets to the Coheed concert (purchased early, per mitch's request haha), and an Avatar DVD. I don't know which he liked more!

Happy Birthday Mitch! Thank you for being the best husband in the world and making life so much fun! I love you more than words can say! I am excited for the many more birthdays with you to come. :-)

Easter was great! Now we are just working on trying to get through these last couple weeks of school so we can enjoy our break! For me summer school starts in June so we plan on having as much fun as possible in May. We are still waiting to hear back for Mitch about getting into MBA school, but we should know soon! Life is going great for us right now. We are enjoying as much time together and with our families in the midst of school and work. We have two family reunions coming up soon and we are excited for those!

Date night!

Just a quick update! There have been several exciting things happening the past month! Be expecting more posts to follow this one soon, including Easter and the Muse concert! :-) This is all I had time for now though!

A couple weeks ago we had an opportunity to go on a date night with our friends Stin and Sarah. We went to eat at Red Robin, then we went and saw that new 3D movie showing at the Clark planetarium about the Hubble space telescope. I definitely recommend seeing this one! Well worth the time and money! It was way cool!

Afterwards we finally got to use our gift card to the Melting Pot! We went there for dessert and it was divine! I think I love chocolate just a bit too much! Mitch obviously does too, because right after all that chocolate fondue he wanted to eat a chocolate candy bar! Ha ha!

It was definitely a fun evening. We are so busy so we don't get a lot of date nights, but we jump at any opportunity we can get!

Happy late Easter! That will be my next post with lots of fun pictures! :-)

St Pattys Day

St Patrick's Day is now one of my favorite holidays. For me (and us) its more than just wearing green (and pinching people who aren't wearing green).

The simple phrase "Happy St Patties Day" was in a way the reason our relationship started. I remember I was on vacation in Georgia visiting my family, and looking through my phone. I saw his name and randomly decided to text him that phrase. Before this text, I just knew him as a cute, funny, flirtatious guy in my singles ward. This message led him to invite me to sit by him at church that coming Sunday, and so I did. We hit it off from there.

I look back on our wonderful year together and realize it has been the best year of my life. From our flirty first dates, Jazz games, Sneaking into the Rice Eccles Stadium, texting eachother all day long while working, meeting eachother's familys, going on hikes, our "summer of celebration", going to the park, late nights and losing sleep just so we could see eachother after work, the engagement, planning a wedding with you, our wedding day, all up to this very moment right now. I wouldn't change a single thing and I know it is only going to get better.
I love you Mitch! Here's to a whole year of you being involved in my life. I couldn't ask for anymore and I am so blessed to have you as a husband. I somehow got lucky and caught the best fish in the sea. :-)
St Patricks day will always be special for us, and mean a little more than what the holiday actually entails. We have a deeper meaning to the St Pattys day that we celebrate. :-)

Valentines weekend!

This was our first valentines day together! So of course we just had to make it great!

On the Friday before valentines day, Mitch was at work so I surprised him by decorating his car. I wrote all over the windows with glass chalk and filled his car with red and black balloons. Inside each one was a little piece of paper that said a reason why I loved him. I also covered his dashboard with reeses (his favorite) and left a gift bag on his seat with other gifts and treats. He was very pleasantly surprised :)

Funny story though, Jeremy came with me to help and when we pulled into his work parking lot I realized I didn't have his spare key with me. I would have to go inside and somehow get him to give me his keys, but this would ruin the surprise! So...I came up with a devious plan...I took off my wedding ring and hid it. Then we went into his work to order food to eat, and I acted panicked. I told mitch that while I was taking off my gloves my ring fell off in my car and I couldn't find it. Well, he has a little light thing on his keychain that would be perfect for looking in between car seats, so I borrowed his keys to "look for my ring." Then Jeremy and I went out and got the job done to his car, I put my ring back on and gave Mitch back his keys. Then we ate and left. Mitch called me later when he saw his car and was very surprised. He pretened to give me a hard time for making up the ring story, but I know he didn't mind since I had a good reason for it :-)

I had to work on Valentines day,but it ended up working out better. Neither of us had school on Monday because it was presidents day, so we were able to spend the whole day together and we celebrated our valentines day then. :-) I woke up to a box of chocolates and chocolate covered pretzels on the floor next to the bed, and roses on the table. Mitch made me blueberry pancakes for breakfast. They were delicious! Then we went to the gateway and then saw Dear John. It was an ok movie, but I wouldn't see it again. Then we went to dinner and to the Paul Cardall concert. It was a great day and we really enjoyed it. We haven't spent a whole day together since we went to Mexico, we are much too busy!

We didn't take a whole lot of pics, but here are the ones we took :-)

Christmas in Cabo

So this post is a little late...well...ok....VERY late. Ha ha! But I wanted to share! Mexico was so much fun! It was great being there for Christmas! It was good to get a break to get away and relax, and spend time with family. Mitch's break wasn't as good as mine though, he got up early every morning and studied 2-3 hours for the GMAT because he had to take it right when he got back. He is such a Trooper!
I had a great time getting to know Mitch's family even more. I love love love his parents and we appreciate them so much! The Maxwells are so great too! I love Hillary's little girls, and I think Ella actually likes me and knows me now! One of my favorite nights was holding her while walking down town and she was so happy and then she fell asleep. Its great because we get to enjoy her little ones since it will be awhile before we are ready to have some of our own!

Here are some of the pics. We have TONS of pics...so here are some that I randomly picked :-)

Going out to eat every night and having Mariachi Bands (spelling?) come up to us and play was one of my favorite things! Felt alot like Mexico!

Me relaxing by the pool and Mitch studying for the GMAT next to me...haha studying can be relaxing...right?

My Birthday!

We have been kind of MIA for awhile because of school, finals, and then going to Cabo!
This post is a month late, but since we have been so busy it took awhile! We will be updating soon with christmas pics and Cabo!

For my birthday, Mitch and I went to breakfast at the original pancake house. Then Mitch surprised me with a couples massage that was amazing! When we got home there was another surprise waiting for me. He had arranged someone to leave chocolate covered strawberries and flowers for me. Such a sweetie!

After that, we went to dinner with his family to Bonzai. It was fun and the food was delicious!
Great Birthday for me! I am so blessed to have such a wonderful husband and wonderful inlaws!
